Ide Træ is a project that was created during the 2020 MIT Reality Hack, and was envisioned as a networked virtual reality multi-user virtual environment (M.U.V.E), which would be a digital space for people all around the world to gather and connect; and to provide a creative space for ideation and collaboration.
Born as a "meta-hackathon" tool, with sci-fi novel influence, this project uses virtual reality to solve three problems that were encountered at this event:
-
Accessibility - There's always someone who would want to attend a hackathon, but not be able to cover the incurred expenses for traveling and lodging.
-
Communication - It's hard to explain and collaborate on 3D and immersive concepts using 2D drawings.
-
Efficiency - There should not be a tradeoff between physically staying with a concept to present it to others, and learning about the ideas of others.
At the conclusion of the 2020 MIT Reality Hack, Ide Træ was recognized as one of the projects in the "Top 5 in VR" category.
